Slow TV is an interesting medium that companies are starting to use to promote incredible experiences. Many people who may not know what slow tv is, have probably already see it. Ever put on the fire log channel over Christmas? Well, that’s slow TV! In more recent times, companies and individuals are uploading continuous videos of unique but simple experiences. Train rides through the Alpes, Bus expeditions through the Rockies, or in our case, Kayak trips along the Great Trail.
The only rule for Slow TV is that it needs to be continuous and not something that will break a conversation at a party. Basically the video equivalent of elevator music…
The Slow TV video we filmed was an incredible scenic shot along the water route of the Great Trail (A network of trails that goes across Canada). Getting this incredible shot didn’t always look so glamorous. As seen in this BTS of @blaisesack spotting @wildpacificexpeditions Bobby Sherlock as he adjusts our elaborate kayak camera rig. We were filming a 3 hour continuous video of a water section on @thegreattrail. Challenging was an understatement. We faced technical difficulties related to continuous recording, battery life, wind, waves, lens splashing, just to name a few. After 3 days of working hard and very early mornings we got the shot we needed. Tune into @thegreattrail‘s YouTube channel to see the finished product and check out the behind the scenes of our adventure below.
